Addo Food Group, the savoury pastry producer, is expanding into foodservice.

The business, which has traded for more than 160 years and manufactures sausage rolls, hot pies, slices, pork pies, scotch eggs and quiches for the grocery and convenience sector, has produced a range of products for the hospitality sector, at its Dorset Foods site.

It is working with Collingtree-based Central Foods to build up its customer base and will be looking for further opportunities within the catering industry over the coming months.

‘A very strong offering’

“We are really excited about moving into foodservice,” said Jon Rose, Foodservice commercial controller for Addo Food Group, which has six sites across the UK. “This is a growing sector with more outlets than ever before looking for top quality products to serve and we believe we have a very strong offering.

“Our expertise in creating a huge range of branded and own label savoury pastry products means that our customers will know they are working with a business that can consistently supply a wide-range of high-quality products.”

‘Leader in savoury-foods production’

Gordon Lauder, md of Central Foods, which supplies more than 220 independent wholesalers, as well as larger national and regional businesses added: “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract from Addo Food Group – the UK’s leader in savoury foods production and manufacture.

“As a company, Central Foods is well-known for the buffet party foods we supply and distribute to foodservice operators across the UK, and this contract will help us with our continued growth in this area as we look to strengthen the range of both savoury and sweet buffet products we offer.”

Meanwhile, Addo was sold to private investor Lloyds Development Capital in April, after widespread reports of an imminent deal. Industry experts valued the deal at £100M.
