Food Manufacture magazine is the industry’s Vogue, according to Nim’s Fruit Crisps.

After featuring on the front cover of the May edition of Food Manufacture magazine, the manufacturer of fruit and vegetable crisps said on Twitter: “Ooh to be on the front cover of the ‘Vogue’ of manufacturing world, aka @FoodManufacture. What an honour – thank you very much”.

The comments came after Nim’s Fruit Crisps featured in the Me & My Factory series in the latest edition of Food Manufacture.

Nimisha raja, Nim’s Fruit Crisps ceo, revealed how she sold her home to make her business a success.

“For about two years, I worked in a coffee shop on weekdays, and made the crisps in my garage on weekends and evenings,” Raja told Food Manufacture.

‘I sold my house’

“Making the products on a small scale was never going to work. It was all or nothing – which is why I sold my house to help invest in this facility in Sittingbourne, which opened at the end of 2015.”

Meanwhile, Raja told that promoting the British origin of food and drink products will pay off for manufacturers after Brexit.

In an exclusive video interview, Raja explained that there would always be customers wanting a British product. That wouldn’t change after the UK left the EU, she said.

‘A great brand’

Nim’s Fruit Crisps wrote on Twitter: “#MadeInUK is a great brand, recognised for quality. As onerous as foods regs are in UK, they’re well respected #BRC”

Elsewhere, like it fashion industry counterpart Vogue, Food Manufacture is no stranger to awards. In November, Nim’s Fruit Crisps gobbled up the Small and medium-sized enterprise award in the Food Manufacture Excellence Awards.
