Wet and dry food-to-go combined
An innovative microwaveable food packaging concept was launched by Colpac at the Packaging Innovations Show, which took place at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham earlier this month (March 1–2).

Gourmet 24.7 caters to the rising retail demand for premium packaging for high-end dishes, to satisfy the growing demands for convenience ready meals and food-to-go products.

It is fully recyclable and multi-functional, enabling manufacturers of brands and retail own-label foods to pack both wet and dry dishes into a single pack combination.

Originally designed with food-to-go packaging supplier Tri-Star Packaging, Colpac created Gourmet 24.7 following a request from a UK restaurant chain for an up-market home delivery packaging system.

Stackable and quick to assemble, the pack comprises four interchangeable pieces – two primary base cartons (large and small), a thermoformed tray and a lid.

These create seven possible combinations, providing food manufacturers with the ability to pack several dishes, both wet and dry, into one pack combination.

The large primary base (1,000ml) is made from a special board, while the tray provides a ‘cork’ effect to the primary base, and a secondary plate for additional food items.
