‘Sugar like’ stevia for low-calorie drinks unveiled
A stevia ingredient claimed to perform like sugar when calorie-content is greatly reduced is now available.
Designed for drinks, Sigma-Beverage performs favourably when compared with other stevia ingredients on the market, producer PureCircle said.
Furthermore, it can help reduce product development time by 30–50%.
‘Beverages are a challenge’
“Beverages are a challenge because of the high sweetness max,” said John Martin, PureCircle’s senior director of global technical innovation.
“By selecting steviol glycosides that provide a clean, sugar-like taste with a reduced linger, we have formulated a stevia ingredient that really works.”
