A new range of skin films for packs of meat, fish and other fresh foods has been introduced by food packaging and lidding supplier KM Packaging Services.

The K Skin top and base films are said to be versatile and compatible with all main types of sealing machines, including thermoformers and equipment that seals to pre-made trays. For form-fill-seal machines, KM can supply both top web skin film as well as the thermoforming base webs.

These films are also said to reduce waste because of their good seal integrity, despite being easy to peel open by consumers.

Options are also available with films that will seal to mono amorphous polyelthylene terephthalate and mono polypropylene trays without a polyethylene layer. This makes base webs or trays more easily recyclable.

Films are currently available in two thicknesses – 100 and 150 micron – with more in development.
