Champion of Champions 2017 has been revealed!

This year's event took place on Monday 6 November at County Hall, London, where makers of the best sausages in the land fought it out to be crowned Champion of Champions 2017.

Allan Bennett Butchers in Wolverhampton won the title for the fourth time with its Sunshine Sausage.

The winning sausage was a blend of local pork along with garlic, tomato, oregano and basil.

Allan's son Steven Bennett, who also works in the shop, explained the inspiration behind the sausage. "It was created for the barbecue season, specifically the Q Guild Barbecue competition in early summer. We wanted to go down the Mediterranean route and to give a bright, summery name.

One judge on the panel praised the entry for their "uniformity and consistency in size and shape", the fact they were "well-filled and had a nice mix of flavours that complemented each other well and were different to any other sausage entered into the competition".
