A UK bean curd manufacturer installed a semi-automatic scale to raise productivity at the company and meet growing demand for its products.

Tofu King, a Birmingham-based producer of bean curd products for the oriental food market, has installed a semi-automatic dataweigh (SDW) multi-functional scale from Yamato as part of its automation plans.

The SDW was supplied for portioning and feeding to the packaging area. It can reach speeds of up to 30 packs a minute on retail packaged products.

The SDW is hygienic and waterproof and is able to deal with both dry and marinated tofu products. Maintenance is said to be easy because the hoppers and conveyor belt can be easily removed for cleaning.

The machine can be readily adjusted to suit different weights and sizes of product made.

“The new streamlined packaging process enabled by the SDW means that we can pack four times faster than before,” says Yan Lui, Tofu King’s owner.Productivity has been increased and fewer people are required to complete the packaging process.”

You can contact Yamato Scale Dataweigh (UK) for more information.
