The 2 Sisters Food Group has teamed up with online ordering service Hello Fresh to deliver chicken dishes.

The Hello Fresh online ordering service delivers all the ingredients needed to cook pre-designed, healthy recipes at home, said the firm.

The manufacturer’s site at Willand in mid Devon has supplied the firm’s first chicken delivery to a 2 Sisters Hello Fresh customer.

After Hello Fresh contacted 2 Sisters in October, the two firms have been developing a product to coincide with delivery service’s link-up with Jamie Oliver, featured in recent TV adverts.

Willand site

2 Sisters’ Willand site will contribute retail packed product – mainly thigh and breast fillets.

This is expected to increase, as demand grows.

The manufacturer’s commercial manager Dean Colclough said: “The team on this project have worked so hard to meet the tight launch schedule.

“Many departments have pulled together from agriculture to get the Freedom Food birds in the sheds, production who have helped plan and produce the orders, technical and procurement to develop specifications and despatch and transport to ensure the logistics run to plan.

“It’s been a great team effort.”

Hello Fresh began delivering ingredients for meals in shopping bags to its first 10 customers. “10 bags of shopping increased to hundreds and then thousands and the little Hello Fresh family has grown,” according to the firm’s website.

‘Easy home cooking and eating’

Each week Hello Fresh designs new photo recipe cards. “We do all the thinking and planning so you’re just left with the fun bit: easy home cooking and eating,” claims the business.

Hello Fresh supplies the ingredients via its scheme. “There’s no waste and we hunt down speciality produce that you won’t find in the supermarkets.”

The business claimed that its delivery service was specifically designed to minimise waste, which lead to reduced costs for customers. “Unlike the supermarkets we don't waste any food. Every week we know exactly how much we need and that's all we order from our suppliers.

“Besides making us feel pretty happy, it also means it costs us less and we can pass that benefit to you.”

Earlier this month, grocery think tank IGD highlighted 2 Sisters Food Group's strategic partnerships with limited range discount stores Aldi and Lidl.

Meanwhile, in January the manufacturer created 200 new jobs at the old S&A Foods factory.
