OneStep extended to UHT milk from powder

Tetra Pak has extended its OneStep processing technology to allow for ultra-high temperature (UHT) milk production from powder. The previous model was only available for the production from raw milk.

With the new approach, producers can now prepare UHT milk from powder in one continuous step, reducing costs by up to 40% and cutting the carbon impact by more than a half.

The OneStep technology removes the multiple steps of pasteurisation and intermediate storage usually used to prepare milk from powder before UHT treatment. Thanks to a redesign using the Tetra Pak's high-shear mixer and its Alfast in-line blending unit, the whole process is now streamlined into one continuous step.

As well as simplifying and accelerating milk preparation, it automates operations, reducing milk waste generated between processing steps. It also improves product consistency and quality.

Sadafco, a Saudi Arabian dairy and large producer of recombined milk products, originally piloted the technology with Tetra Pak.
