Cold-pressed rapeseed oil production has helped Phoenix Group grow from nothing into a £1.7M business in little over six years, but the ambitious Nottinghamshire-based company isn’t stopping there.

In this exclusive video, filmed as part of our Me & My Factory series, md Ben Guy tells Noli Dinkovski how the firm plans to treble sales in two years by expanding its value added services, and by branching out into new sectors.

Coconut oil

One of those new markets is coconut oil, which, according to Guy, takes “bit more work” to process than other, more conventional oils.

“It leaves the Philippines as a liquid and, as it cools travelling up to us, it solidifies. As it arrives with us, it’s either a 25,000 litre cube that’s solid wax, or it’s 25 individual 1,000 litre cubes.

“The effort involved is to keep it in a liquid state … because if you overheat it, it loses its density and when you put it into a jar it shrinks and cracks.”
