A 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the fire. Police are still seeking anyone with any information.
Meanwhile, there was good news for 2 Sisters Food Group and Finsbury Food Group.
2 Sisters revealed it would pump £55M into its ready meals, soup and sauces division.
Boost in capacity
The £38M reconstruction of 2 Sisters Pennine factory in Sheffield should be completed by the end of 2017, safeguarding 800 jobs and boosting capacity, the firm said.
2 Sisters parent company Boparan Holdings also overtook Associated British Foods to be recognised as the UK’s largest food and drink manufacturer, according to a survey by OC&C Strategy Consultants in collaboration with Food Manufacture’s sister title The Grocer.
Finsbury Food Group enjoyed a good week too. It posted a 76% boost in pre-tax profits to £11.4M, after what it described as a ‘transformational year’.
