Buyouts, campylobacter and recalls tops week’s headlines

The £1.6M buyout Leatherhead Food Research by the Science Group leads our selection of the top headlines from the past week in food and drink manufacturing.

The announcement ended speculation about the organisations financial problems that has led to anonymous tipsters calling FoodManufacture.co.uk.

Also this week, Cargill revealed it would be introducing SonoSteam technology​ in a bid to tackle campylobacter at its Hereford poultry processing plant.

Continuing the good news, Morrisons ceo David Potts pumped £500,000 of his own cash into the retailer.

Recalls

There was less positive news for Premier Foods which was forced to recall thousands of tubs of gravy​. Premier was just one of a number of firms forced to recall products this week, watch our video to find out the rest.

Finally, food manufacturers were warned to be on their guard against identity theft​, as leading meat processor Tulip continued to complain it was being targeted by fraudsters.
