There’s still time to win a shiny, new food and drink manufacturing Oscar look for your boardroom. Here’s your opportunity to join firms such as Premier Foods, CocaCola Enterprises and Finsbury Food Group by winning a Food Manufacture Excellence Award (FMEA).

The food and drink manufacturing Oscars celebrate the industry’s best of the best. They recognise top achievement in key industry sectors: ambient manufacturing, bakery and beverages, to fresh, chilled and frozen categories among others. The full list of categories appears below.

Entering the award is free and straightforward.

The winner of a category award will be eligible to win the big one: Food Manufacture Company of the Year, scooped last year by Dawn Meats.

Best New Use of Food Ingredients

After entering a main category award, firms will also be eligible to enter four other awards: Best New Use of Food Ingredients; Environmental Initiative of the Year; Supply Chain Initiative of the Year and Training Programme of the Year.

Awards will also be made for Judges’ Star Performer – presented to a company selected from all entries, which the judges believe deserves recognition for one particular area of its activities – and the SME (small to medium sized enterprises) Innovation of the Year award, for the best small company with a turnover of less than £10M and employing fewer than 100 staff.

Young Talent of the year award

The Oscars also aim to encourage the next generation of industry professionals with the Young Talent of the Year award – won last year by a high flier from Thorntons. This award will be made to the individual the judges assess to be the most promising new apprentice or graduate in food and drink manufacture.

The winners will be revealed at a gala dinner celebration – this year with a carnival theme – at the Lancaster Hotel in West London on November 3.

Entries close on July 17.
