Morrisons has named Cargill, the supermarket's largest source of fresh chicken, as its Supplier of the Year 2015.

Cargill's "dedication, values and collaborative approach" were recognised by the retailer at its annual supplier conference. The two companies have been in partnership for nearly 30 years, and the supplier was an early adopter of the M Partnership scheme, which sees Morrisons select category champions, such as Cargill, to work with in a collaborative approach.

Casper Meijer, group trading director at Morrisons, said: "We introduced the M Partnership programme in 2013, to drive greater efficiencies between our business and our suppliers. Cargill embraced this right from the start, working collaboratively with us on every aspect of our business. In the last year alone, Cargill's work has exemplified the values and approach we seek for all our suppliers to enable us to deliver high-class products."

Pilar Cruz, managing director at Cargill Meats Europe, said: "We were delighted to receive this award and the recognition from Morrisons. This is a huge milestone in our relationship with Morrisons and demonstrates the clear alignment between our two businesses and our customer-focused approach. We look forward to many more years of collaboration to come."

Cargill's European poultry business has processing facilities in the UK, France and Russia, and employs 2,800 people across the continent. It supplies primary and further processed chicken products for retail, foodservice and food manufacturing customers.
