Macsween of Edinburgh has signed a deal with Nagel Langdons, the UK subsidiary of the Nagel-Group, which will see the company expand its outsourced storage and distribution service to include contract freezing, tempering and case picking for the haggis maker.

“As our brand has grown we were keen to work with a trusted and experienced partner to support our operation,” says company co-owner James Macsween. “We required an expert in logistics to support our business so that we could focus on our area of expertise making the best haggis in the world.”

Nagel’s general manager for Scotland, Malcolm Wilde, adds: “Our strategy for the Scottish distribution centre from the moment the investment plan was approved was to position ourselves as an added value service provider for Scottish food manufacturers and become more integrated with our customers' supply chain. This agreement demonstrates the clear benefits of out-sourcing order assembly and despatch functions.”

The agreement includes: inbound/outbound logistics, contract freezing and storage of 750 pallets of work-in-progress stock, tempering, case picking, order assembly and despatch of approximately 250,000 cases of finished product annually.
