Food and drink manufacturers across the nation are invited to enter the Great British Bounce Back 2014 challenge, designed to showcase firms that are bouncing back from recession and investing in the future of their businesses.

Entry is free and straightforward: visit the competition website and post 50 words about why your organisation should be crowned the Great British Bounce Back Champion. Simply answer the question: what has your organisation done to invest in its future during one of the deepest economic recessions in living memory?

  • Created jobs, helped to develop the next generation of workforce through training and introducing apprenticeships.
  • Developed the supply chain to ensure traceability.
  • Supported British farmers and producers – sourcing local products where possible.

All entries will appear on the website www.foodex.co.uk/GBBB, where people will be able to vote for their favourite entry. Shortlisted entries will be displayed at Foodex 2014, at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham from March 24–26t.

At Foodex, visitors and industry experts will be able to vote for the entry they think demonstrated the greatest contribution to the future of the food and drink industry. The winner will be profiled on FoodManufacture.co.uk.

The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys

In 2012 the winner was The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys, reflecting the firm’s £3M investment in an Ulma automated packaging line to individually wrap mini cupcakes and muffins, while improving the plant’s capacity and efficiency.

Gary Frank, self-styled head boy at The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys said: “We are really pleased to have won this award, and for being recognised within the industry for our investment that we have put in to our machinery enabling us to produce fabulous innovative bakery snacks that people will buy time and time again.”
