Related tags Production and manufacturing Management

Equipment supplier Lingwood Food Services has been involved in the development of a state of the art salad factory for Kanes Foods.

Kanes’s objective was to ensure that the 11,000m2 building would incorporate all the latest technology to ensure production of the best quality products with consistent shelf-life. After lengthy consultation with Kanes, extensive research, product trials and development projects with a number of trusted suppliers, Lingwood delivered new equipment designed to meet the needs of Kanes, its customers and its products in three key areas of the production process.

The automated control of raw ingredients delivers weight-controlled mixes to the line. This dramatically reduces manual input in the pre-preparation stage and ensures consistent finished products on multi-ingredient mixes.

A thorough, effective and controlled washing process for salad leaves uses the Vortex washing system. The reduction seen in the levels of spoilage organisms are directly resulting in shelf-life gains.

Air drying and product cooling tunnels have been designed to gently remove moisture without causing damage before the leaves are sealed in a bag. This delicate and highly flexible system is adjustable for all product types and ensures unrivalled product quality, appearance and shelf-life.
