Bottles that can handle the heat
An enhanced range of bottles for hot-fill food and beverages, which uses a technology for improved filling, greater design flexibility, lighter weight and smoother walls, has been introduced by polyethylene terephthalate packaging specialist APPE.

The new ‘Active Hinge’ for APPE's Heat Set bottle range features a multiple ribs design claimed to produce bottles that are 30% lighter than existing technology, while delivering an enhanced performance in two key areas.

First, the ribs provide additional rigidity to counteract the pressure caused by the filling and cooling processes. The ribs contract after cooling, absorbing the vacuum that forms inside the bottle and further controlling deformation. They also help to increase topload strength.

As well as lighter weight bottles, which reduce raw material usage, the panel-less design creates a more modern look with smoother, sleeker lines designed to improve label application and appearance.
