Karro Food Group has appointed former Greencore chief operating officer Di Walker as its new executive chair, with effect from October 1.

Walker stood down from her position at Greencore last May.

She first joined Greencore in 2004 as md of the chilled sauce and soups category. Prior to joining Greencore, she held a number of Hazlewood Foods and Hibernia Foods.

Her appointment follows a successful first half for Karro since its management buyout. The pork supplier agreed a £60M funding package from GE Capital in July.

Walker said she was delighted to be joining Karro at such an exciting time for the business.

‘Well invested facilities’

“The foundations of the Karro business are strong, with well-invested facilities and an experienced and loyal workforce.  I intend to build on this and focus on the consumer proposition, working closely and in partnership with our customers.”

Aidan Robson, investment director at Endless – Karro’s owner –, said he was delighted to welcome Walker to lead the board.

“Di brings with her huge experience in the food sector and her appointment adds to the momentum already being achieved, ensuring that Karro continues to focus on the needs of its customers, invests in its product offering and builds on its strong market share.”

Meanwhile, Karro appointed Brian Stein non-executive director at Karro last May.
