Compact units get in gear for energy efficiency

New gear units to improve energy efficiency

Related tags Gear

SEW Eurodrive has launched two compact, energy-efficient, helical-bevel gear units for low power applications. The K19 and K29 units deliver energy savings and enable the use of smaller motors, enabling the reduction of the size and weight of the overall drive.

The new gear units can be combined with SEW Eurodrive's entire range of motors, including the DR series of standard asynchronous motors, as well as the LSPM motor (IE4), and the CMP series of synchronous servomotors. The DRC electronic motor (IE4) is a good match for an energy-efficient combination.

The low-loss K19 and K29 gear units have hypoid gearing in the output stage. This is available in three different gear ratios that make it possible for the gear units to reach overall ratios from three to 70. The gearing is designed with infinite fatigue strength that results in a nearly wear-free drive.

With a two-part aluminium universal housing, the new units are equally suited to foot or shaft mounting. Three standard base strips enable the drive to be optimally mounted on the driven machine, even when there is very little space available.
