Frozen fruit and vegetable manufacturer Ardo UK has appointed Collin Slater as its new technical director.

Slater joins from Australian and New Zealand-based food manufacturer George Weston Foods, where he had been national quality improvement manager since 2010.

Before this he held the role of technical manager at Warburtons for over five years.

Slater said that Ardo’s “high-quality products” and focus on sustainability had particularly appealed to him when making the decision to join the firm.

‘World-class standards’

“I hope to support the operations team in its bid to achieve world-class standards in the factory and also drive a competitive advantage by offering superior technical service,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ardo announced a further seven recruits. Vanessa Zola joined as business sector manager of Ardo Food Ingredients, Oliver Mulcahy and Andy Lane joined as shift engineers and Russell Carr takes on the role of systems business analyst.

Susan Butcher and Gosia Wisniewska have both joined the firm, which is based in Charing, in management positions, while Scott Morgan has taken the position of cold store operative.
