Food manufacturers need to work more closely with government, civil society and research organisations to build a sustainable food system, according to Forum for the Future.

In this exclusive video for FoodManufacture.co.uk, Forum for the Future’s head of food Mark Driscoll said collaboration between food businesses was the key to a building a sustainable future.

He also called on food and drink firms to stop seeing sustainability as an “add on” and embed it into the DNA of their businesses.

Lack of leadership, skill and knowledge

Driscoll went on to say that a lack of leadership, skill and knowledge is preventing many food and drink firms from operating a sustainable business.

Watch this video to find out why Driscoll said certain small firms lacked the competence, capability and capacity to build sustainable models. He also called for better support, improved knowledge transfer and easier access to finance.
