Spicing up the sauce market wins awards

Mintel names Heinz's new sauce 'most innovative' at IFE

Heinz's moves to adapt its classic sauces for the cooking ingredients market earned it special attention at last month's IFE food and drink event.

Mintel chose the firm's Culinair ketchup with balsamic vinegar as one of last year's most innovative new food and drink product launches across the globe.

Consumers' rising interest in experimenting with new varieties of table sauces has sparked high levels of flavour-based new product development, according to Mintel, which has seen a growing trend towards hotter sauces inspired by foreign cuisines.

47%

Its figures state that 47% of consumers now like to actively try out new flavours, which is why Heinz introduced the First Harvest and Culinaire ranges in 2012 to add value to their product range.

Heinz Culinair Ketchup with Curry, Pepper and Lemon accompanies such dishes as rice or chicken within an easy to open, 300g pack.

Other flavours include Roasted Garlic, Thyme & Honey Ketchup and Vinegar & Oregano Ketchup.
