A 53% rise in sales of its sliced cheese prompted Wrexham-based Ash Manor Cheese Company to invest £450,000 in increasing its production capacity.

New slicing and thermoforming equipment will lift single shift production capacity to 60t a week to meet demand.

The company will be installing a Treif Divider 660+ Line Slicer and Vari-Pac UK Thermoforming TF520 packing machine this month.

Ash Manor Cheese md Ian Hutton said: "We already have these makes of machinery on site so we have some familiarity with them. They have already proved themselves with state-of-the-art electronics and control surfaces.

"Their reliability of performance has helped to increase our production efficiency and raised output by 50%."

Ash Manor produces British and European cheese in a variety of formats including grated, sliced, diced and crumbed and supplies the UK's industrial food manufacturing and foodservice sectors. The company's turnover for this financial year is on target to reach £15.9M.
