Bakkavör’s new food factory and farm in Eastern China are now operational
Chilled own-label food giant Bakkavör has opened a new food factory and farm in eastern China to supply its burgeoning business in Asia.

The manufacturer of fresh prepared foods said the factory and farm in the Fujian and Jiangsu provinces of China would complement the group’s existing Asian business in the country and Hong Kong. It will allow the firm to boost capacity in line with one of its key customer’s rapid growth plans in Asia.

Fresh produce needs

The farm will provide “a significant proportion” of the manufacturer’s fresh produce needs and extend the group's control over the quality and sourcing of its raw materials.

Bakkavör’s chief executive Agust Gudmundsson added: “This investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Asian market. The development of fresh prepared foods in China represents a fantastic opportunity for Bakkavör and we see a real, and growing, demand for our expertise.”
