Food sustainability should begin at home a top scientist is to tell the Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST) Spring Conference in Norwich next week.

In this exclusive podcast Professor Ian Crute, chief scientist with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, gives FoodManufacture.co.uk a sneak preview of his keynote presentation.

Crute’s presentation – Sustainable production: the foundation of secure food supply –  will explain the commercial, strategic and environmental importance of sustainable food production. Supplies of sustainable food ensures UK food retailers and manufacturers are well supplied with high quality products, he said.

Integrated food supply chain

Jon Poole, IFST chief executive told FoodManufacture.co.uk, said: “I am excited about this conference. We have a really strong programme of world-class speakers looking at a very practical set of issues all concerned with ensuring a more integrated food supply chain​.”

The IFST spring conference​ – Securing the future of food: challenges and opportunities – takes place on April 18 at the John Innes Centre Conference Centre.
