Interfood targets bakery production lines

Interfood's new cost saving packaging solutions

Related tags Baking

Interfood Technology has formed a new Packing Solutions division to target the bakery industry.

New division head Rod Allen says: "There is much development in the end-of-line element of food processing and those making bakery products on a large scale with consistent and repeatable processing could benefit."

The firm believes significant cost savings can be made in bakery by automating end-of-line food processing. Cakes, biscuits and other baked goods require inspection at the end of the processing line before being transferred to automatic case-packing systems, which place the individual packs into cases for display on supermarket shelves.

Interfood's new capability combines expertise from Buhmann, a Germany-based end-of-line kit manufacturer, and precision weighing technology from Sparc Systems.

The range will include checkweighing, metal detection, weigh grading, multi-lane weighing, converging, automatic product stacking and automatic case packing and closing.
