Flexible weigh to ensure growth
The firm's core business is sourcing and repacking nut kernels, dried fruit, confectionery and snacks for retail clients.
The firm packs between 75 and 100 types of product into up to 250 pack sizes, from 15g to 3kg. The 10-head Ishida multihead weighers have interchangeable hoppers that can handle products with varying characteristics, such as those that are sticky or more easily damaged. Changeovers are quick and efficient, as pre-programmed target weights can be called up at the touch of a button on the weigher's remote control unit.
The newly installed Ishida checkweigher and metal detector combinations have been configured to supermarket requirements including separate reject bins for metal contaminants and incorrect weights, internal alarms for rejects and a coloured beacon system to distinguish various problems. The checkweighers can also provide valuable production information for monitoring and traceability.
The Ishida lines typically have only 1 2% deviation from the target weight, and operate at speeds of up to 40 packs a minute, which is well within the capabilities of the equipment.
