The Co-op has recalled a batch of its own-brand Truly Irresistible Whole Cherry Tomato and Chilli Pasta Sauce because of a manufacturing fault, which could have led to some of the jars containing pieces of glass.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a Product Recall Information Notice in the wake of the announcement.

The full details of the product being recalled is ‘The Co-operative Truly Irresistible Whole Cherry Tomato and Chilli Pasta Sauce, 340g, production code LM111’.

Manufacturing fault

A statement on the FSA website said: “The Co-operative has recalled the above product on a precautionary basis, as some jars may contain pieces of glass due to a manufacturing fault.

“The Co-operative will be displaying notices in stores explaining the actions consumers can take if they have bought the affected product.

“If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead call the Co-operative Customer Relations Freephone on 0800 0686 727 for a full refund.”

No other Co-op products are known to be affected.
