A food factory worker was rushed to hospital with spinal injuries yesterday after becoming trapped in machinery at 2 Sisters’ chicken processing site in Scunthorpe.

A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “We received a call at 2.35pm when a 38-year-old man became trapped in machinery at the 2 Sisters factory in the lairage area. By the time we got there he had been released by his colleagues and we gave him oxygen therapy.”

After administering trauma care, firefighters left the man in the care of the paramedics. He was taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital with spinal injuries.
