Coffee firm cracks thermal packaging code

Basingstoke-based Ferns Coffee has installed a new thermal transfer coder to replace a printer that was 30 years old.

Ferns md Justin Slawson said: "We opted for the 53XL80 thermal transfer coder for a number of reasons, including the fact that it has a bigger print area than other models, plus it offers many of the advanced features more expensive alternatives offer."

The printer can also contend with a number of different applications and print a variety of information such as fixed and variable text, data and graphics, bar codes, real-time, sell-by dates, batch numbers, prices and source codes.

Other benefits of the 53XL range include excellent print quality at 300dpi; cassette ribbon loading; 600m ribbon capacity; print speeds of up to 40 packs a minute and the ability to cope with a potential increase in business and extra capacity if required.
