The search is on to find the UK’s best food and drink manufacturers to match the achievement of Weetabix, which won the 2011 Food Manufacturing Company of the Year award.

Organised by our sister title Food Manufacture, the Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards showcase the achievement of individual firms and the people within them who help to drive their success.

Landing the top prize last year is still reaping rewards for Weetabix, according to Mark Edwards, business unit operations manager

“Winning the Food Manufacturing Company of the Year Award was the culmination of a major drive for performance improvement that was achieved through the direct engagement and involvement of our people,” he told FoodManufacture.co.uk.

Better place to work

“This has proven to be just the start and subsequently we have moved towards greater levels of involvement in delivering business objectives, which has created further improvement, better understanding of the drivers for improvement on the shop floor and I feel it has made Weetabix a better place to work. Most importantly, Weetabix is now better equipped to respond to the needs of our customers and the market place.”
