A new tray sealer and check-weigher range from Ishida Europe, launched recently at the Anuga FoodTec show in Germany, will help manufacturers boost efficiency and throughput, claims the firm.

Ishida’s marketing manager Torsten Giese told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “Food manufacturers operating in highly competitive markets need to maximise the efficiency of their operations in order to achieve the highest throughput while maintaining product and pack quality.”

The firm’s new QX–775–Flex tray sealer delivered both more efficient work rates and easier operation, he claimed. It was said to combine processing speeds for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) trays of up to 15 cycles per minute with maximum hygiene and high-quality end presentation.

Ready meals

Designed for all food types, including ready meals, meat, poultry, fish and salads, the tray sealer was compatible with a range of packaging applications including MAP, skinpack and shrink applications.

Automatic and quick release features were said to allow quick changeovers. “This is particularly useful for ready meal applications where product range and volumes can fluctuate,” the firm said.

The system’s servo-driven motion was said to allow accurate and consistent tray handling at high speeds. The servo-controlled film drive also ensured smooth handling of the film and accurate printing for integrated coding systems, said the firm.

An integrated gas-mixing system created MAP packs while a gas analyser sampled gas and stopped the system if the wrong mix was detected.

The tray sealers’ self-draining curved surfaces, the absence of exposed cables or motors and easily removable belts and conveyors were claimed to allow fast and full washdown.

Meanwhile, Ishida’s new DACS–G range of check-weighers feature a fast and accurate digital loadcell that operates reliably in harsh environments, claimed the firm.

The loadcell’s ability to switch between two weighing capacities and graduations gave each model in the range the flexibility to handle a much larger product range.

Capacity

The DACS–G 015 model can switch from a capacity of 600g (0.2g graduation) to 1.5kg (0.5g graduation).

The DACS–G 060 model was able to switch between 3kg (1g graduation) and 6kg (2g graduation) ranges.

Included in the design was a dislocating force limiter, which disconnected the weigh sensor from the weigh conveyor if excessive force were applied during cleaning.

The range’s rounded stainless steel main body, featuring open-frame design and quick-remove conveyor prevented bacteria traps and enabled fast and thorough cleaning with reduced downturn, said the firm.
