Welsh entertainment legends Dame Shirley Bassey and Max Boyce have backed plans from pastry manufacturer Peter's Pies to create a new energy-infused pie made with energy drink Red Bull.

The firm said the pie, which is helping to raise money for the children’s charity the Noah’s Ark Appeal, had received an endorsement from the singer and comedian in their roles as patrons of the charity.

Peter's confirmed that it was currently exploring the possibility to create the pie which will be road tested with 13,000 existing customers across the UK.

Popular energy drink

A spokesman for the Peter's told FoodManufacture.co.uk the production of the pie was still at the experimental stage. But he confirmed that the ingredients would include the popular energy drink.

The new pies will be 30% larger and have new recipes including, steak, minced beef and onion, and chicken and mushroom, according to the firm.

They will also be wrapped in a heatproof film to enhance the flavours.

Neil Court-Johnston, md of Peter's Pies, said: “Peter's has always been an innovative pie company and we are determined to remain at the forefront of new ideas with products that not only turn heads but taste incredible. I can honestly say that this pie ticks all those boxes and we are genuinely excited about rolling this out.”
