Bakery firm Woodhead (Scarborough) went into administration on March 29, with 30 of its 310 staff made redundant.

The £9m turnover bakery has a factory in Scarborough as well as 30 bakery shops.

Administrators Gareth Rusling and Christopher White of P&A Partnership in Sheffield will be taking offers for the whole business or its component parts, which include high-volume savoury production facilities.

Administrators blamed inflation, rising global wheat prices and harsh economic conditions on the high street for Woodhead’s difficulties.

The 74-year old business continues to trade in administration. White said: “We believe that by continuing to trade, we have the best chance of finding a buyer and we have retained as many employees as we possibly can."
