Revamp for reward

Milk Link’s creamery in North Tawton, Devon, will have its whey dryer replaced as part of a refurbishment.

The revamp has been funded through a strategic partnership between co-operative, Milk Link, and dairy company, Volac.

The refurbishment will allow Taw Valley to grow its cheese production further and add a range of other dairy ingredients to its portfolio. The firm plans to tap into growing European demand for whey.

Meanwhile, Milk Link has also raised its liquid and manufacturing prices to bring both to 26 pence per litre (ppl) as of this month. The latest increase marks a rise of 2.75ppl for manufacturing and 2.53ppl for liquid since the start of the current financial year.

Milk Link says the increase is due to rising costs in feed, fuel and fertiliser.
