Bakkavör earmarks Caledonian Produce site for expansion
Bakkavör has earmarked its Caledonian Produce site at Bo'ness, West Lothian, for expansion to ensure it has sufficient capacity to meet seasonal fluctuations in demand.

The site, which employs about 900 staff plus additional seasonal staff, makes ready-to-eat snack salads and prepared potatoes for Marks & Spencer.

A spokesman told FoodManufacture.co.uk: "The site has been earmarked for expansion, primarily to ensure that it has sufficient capacity to meet the seasonal demand that comes with producing salad products."

Local press reports that a factory extension would create up to 50 jobs this spring/summer were premature, he said: "It's too early to talk about how many jobs could be created or when this will happen. Talks are ongoing as to the timing of the expansion project."
