Piping system keeps its cool

Climate Center, the national distributor of refrigeration and air conditioning products, which is part of Wolsey UK, has introduced a new type of piping system called Cool-Fit for use with high-efficiency secondary cooling systems.

Cool-Fit is a high quality plastic-based piping system designed for use with secondary refrigeration systems. Such systems enable the volume of refrigerant required in a cooling system to be reduced by as much as 8090% compared with conventional DX refrigeration systems.

A secondary system based on Cool-Fit can have less than half the total equivalent warming impact of a traditional single circuit refrigeration system based on standard refrigerant pipe work.

Due to the reduced refrigerant charge, it also helps minimise leaks of expensive and potentially harmful refrigerant to the atmosphere.

Cool-Fit is made from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, a high impact-resistant material also used to make golf club heads and automotive parts. Pipe comes encapsulated in an insulated jacket made of high grade, low temperature polyurethane.

The insulation is made in a high-density form to optimise insulation properties, and sealed in an outer jacket of high density polyethylene.

The smooth bore corrosion-free pipes minimise encrustation, ensuring low pressure drops, and have no energy-sapping thermal bridges as pipe supports are attached via the outer jacket.
