Refreshing lift for Britvic

Britvic Soft Drinks operates six UK production sites and a national distribution centre (NDC) in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.

Barloworld Handling manages more than 200 Hyster units for Britvic and has helped it to cut costs and boost efficiency via increased intelligence.

"We balance the hours used across the fleet and centrally manage lifetime costs," explains Chris Jackson, regional drive site manager for Britvic's fleet.

Britvic's 25,548m2 NDC in Lutterworth handles 470 vehicles a day in peak periods. Pallets are received by lorry and unloaded by eight Hyster H4.0FT Advance+ liquefied petroleum gas forklifts.

"The Fortens trucks should work 7080h a week in an intense, short-run, stop-start operation, but we were finding that the hours were incredibly high for some trucks but not others, with associated penalties," says Steve Martin, facilities manager at Lutterworth.

"We now direct drivers to use specific trucks for each shift, saving money and optimising the management of scheduled maintenance."
