Treatt’s ginger flavour is to go global

UK ingredients company Treatt is globally rolling out a product made in the US to aid processors struggling with ginger flavours.

Ginger Treatterome 9745 could replace existing ginger oil flavourings and could, for example, be added to a greater variety of beverages because of its water soluble properties, said Treatt.

Distilled from Zingiber officinalis, it conforms to clean-label trends, adding to the firm's From The Named Food portfolio, and imparts the aroma of freshly grated ginger root without the tingling heat of ginger oil.

The ingredient could be used on its own or in combination with other flavours, said senior business and group marketing manager Giles Bovill. "You could use this product as a top note for ginger beer and in conjunction with existing flavours for example, in sushi to reinforce the ginger aroma."

Suggested doses start at 25 parts per million.
