Crumpets go paperless

Related tags Management

The crumpet department at Hovis Greenford has now gone paper-free with the Principle Suite system from Applied Principles. The system had previously been successfully trialled in the bread plant at Greenford.

The paperless system replicates all the Hovis Quality Commitment paperwork in the Hornet-2 PDA including integrated temperature module, bar code scanner and camera and makes it simple for workers in the plant to carry out and record checks.

Hovis says the new system allows it to take and record temperatures automatically, take photographic evidence where required, highlight non-conformances immediately and achieve traceability at the click of a mouse button.

Ram Singh, technical services process manager, says: "The system has been well received by our staff and has proved very popular with our customers during audits. This has enabled us to improve the quality of our service by rectifying non-conformances promptly."
