Rotary knife cutter gives minimum waste

A new rotary knife cutter from Munson Machinery in the US delivers controlled end-product sizes with minimum waste at ultra-high rates.

Intended as a cutter/cracker for corn and other grains, spices, roots and related food products, the unit is equipped with a machined one-piece rotor assembly containing five adjustable rotating knives that cut against four reversible, screen-mounted stationary knives. All cutting surfaces are of hardened tool steel.

The cutter rotates at 550rpm as standard, or at other speeds to suit special applications. It propels correctly sized particles through a perforated screen that has apertures ranging from 1.6mm to 19mm, allowing tight control over end product sizes.

The screen provides 270 degrees of exposure and is retained within dual, hinged housings with machined channels that allow easy access and rapid screen changes.

The unit is equipped with protective guards enclosing the V-belt drive assembly, as well as sealed flange block ball bearing assemblies, which support the rotor assembly.
