It’s curtains for vehicle rear doors

Seymour Manufacturing says its Tempro Back-Stop curtain is the first insulated cold stop device designed to save energy loss from the back of a chilled or frozen vehicle. The curtain is available for new trailers or trucks, or can be retrofitted to existing vehicles.

The firm promises substantial energy and fuel savings from using the curtain and the flexibility and simple functionality of the system provides easy access during loading and unloading while retaining the required temperature with the vehicle rear doors open.

The insulated door curtain is based on Seymour's successful Cold Stop curtains, originally developed for supermarket cold rooms and freezers. These reduce cold room energy consumption by allowing optimum settings on evaporator equipment to achieve the internal working temperature and minimise loss. Seymour says its customers have reported energy savings ranging from 18% to 25% in a chiller room to 30% to 35% in freezers.

The Tempro curtain is held in place by an electro-magnet. The driver simply pulls open the curtain through which he wants to enter to activate it. Any of the four curtains can be opened in this way and in any combination.

On exiting from the vehicle, the driver simply pulls a handle, presses a button or uses the tail lift to automatically close the open door panels. The minimum protection while the load is being accessed is 75%.
