Birmingham-based ethnic foods manufacturer Spice Time is moving into new purpose-built premises this year as it embarks on an ambitious bid to become the UK’s leading Halal foodservice manufacturer.

The family-owned business, which makes Halal fresh, frozen and chilled ready meals and snacks for caterers from a facility in Fulham Road, Birmingham, is moving into a new factory in the Eastside development in Birmingham in the autumn.

Sales and development manager Faisal Hussain told FoodManufacture.co.uk:“In capacity terms, where we are is just about sufficient for what we’re doing today, but the new site is all about where we want to go in the future. It’s also in a much better location.

"Where we are now is right in the middle of the Balti triangle – it’s not really very practical for deliveries and so on.”

While all the firm’s products were Halal, this wasn’t Spice Time’s sole USP, however, stressed Hussain.“We’re about high-quality handmade ethnic food."
