Honeytop doubles bakery capacity

Dunstable-based bakery Honeytop Speciality Foods has doubled its capacity and created 140 new jobs following new business wins and an expansion of its product range.

The family-owned firm, which makes flatbreads, tortillas, naans and crumpets, has also acquired an additional 12,077m2 of production space on the Woodside Industrial Estate in Dunstable.

The expansion was the result of “strengthened relationships with new and existing customers following a move into the production of morning goods including crumpets and pancakes”, said joint md David Laurence.

As part of the expansion programme, Honeytop engineers had built several bespoke hot-plate lines for batter-based products, he added: “The expansion has seen the business develop in new and exciting ways, with a more complete range of products and many talented people joining the team.

"We are always on the look-out for when new sites become available as we plan our further expansion and continuous growth.”

Founded in 1984 by Dr Samir Eid, Honeytop employs 400 people.
