Poultry processor spreads its wings with new frozen breaded chicken

The processor is expanding its range of chicken products to include a frozen range, which comprises breaded chicken fillets, southern-fried chicken fillets, breaded chicken goujons, southern-fried chicken goujons, breaded chicken burgers and breaded chicken nuggets.

In August 2009 Food Manufacture reported

that the processor had begun a £4.4M investment at its Lisnaskea site. Since then, it has introduced a third chicken processing line and other machinery, which has helped it increase its capacity by 60%. "The new technology installed has also enabled us to develop new product lines that we couldn't produce before and we are planning a series of launches in the year ahead, beginning with 1kg family-sized packs of frozen chicken breast products," says Sean Maxwell, financial controller, at Western Brand. "Our newly designed packaging for the frozen range will have real stand-out in the freezer cabinet, including lifestyle imagery of the product cooked with serving suggestions on the front of the printed bags, along with the product descriptor, storage and cooking instructions."
