Gloucester-based Bottlegreen Drinks Company is saving more than 30,000 road miles a year by outsourcing warehousing and distribution to logistics firm Downton, based in the same county.

The contract has been prompted by the premium adult soft drinks manufacturer's predictions that its volume sales will swell to 12.5M bottles this year.

Downton will collect product daily, store it at its Moreton Valence distribution centre and transport it directly to each supermarket chain's national distribution centre.

"We are delighted to be working with local logistics firm Downton this year," said Bottlegreen Drinks md Simon Speers. "They are still family run and we believe their values are in line with the way Bottlegreen conducts its business. We are always trying to find new ways to improve our green credentials and using a local distribution firm will enable us to save over 30,000 food miles a year."
