Greggs has appointed Iain Ferguson​ to join its board as a non-executive director.

Ferguson has been chief executive of Tate & Lyle since May 2003. Previously, he worked for Unilever where he held a number of senior positions including executive chairman.

Ferguson is a former commissioner on the UK government’s policy commission on the Future of Farming and Food and also a former president of the Institute of Grocery Distribution. Until December 31 2008, he was president of the UK Food and Drink Federation.

Greggs Chairman, Derek Netherton, said: “I am delighted to welcome Iain Ferguson to the board, and am sure that we will benefit from his extensive experience of the food industry, particularly in manufacturing.”
