Irish baker McCambridge Group has appointed Gavin Cox to the newly created role of chief executive officer (CEO).

Cox is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and joined McCambridge in 2007 as group finance director. Previously he was finance director of the Uniq-owned St Ivel’s food site at Minsterley where he took pivotal management responsibilities in the financial turnaround of that business.

Michael McCambridge, deputy chairman of McCambridge said: “I am delighted to welcome Gavin to this new and challenging position in the company. His wide experience and deep knowledge of our sector will make sure that the enlarged group is well placed to continue to perform strongly and to gain market share. Now that the first phase of the old Inter Link integration has been successfully completed, I am confident that Gavin’s stewardship will ensure that the group is taken to the next level”

Cox said: “I am looking forward to starting my new role as CEO of McCambridge and playing a significant part in the continued success of the group. Michael’s excellent management of the company over the last 14 years, coupled with the first rate management team that is already in place, gives me an excellent platform upon which to build the future growth of the group”
