Redpack Packaging Machinery has supplied an innovative, purpose-designed packing line for wrapping individual chocolate-covered cereal bars at a well-known manufacturer of nutritional foods based in Northamptonshire.

The new line consists of a take-off conveyor that accepts bars from the chocolate enrobing line and transports them via a conveyor to an orientation module where they are turned for alignment with the line flow.

Bars continue through a metal detector and on to a phase feeder that then automatically feeds the bars into a flow-wrapping machine for over-wrapping.

To prevent the chocolate melting when the line stops, the hot cover plates over the flow-wrapper seam-crimp rollers are water cooled. Line speed varies between 60 and 250 packs a minute, and the flow wrapper can accommodate cold-seal, heat-seal and laminate-film stock.
